New Hobbie and our Little Monster

While I was out visiting my family in February for Catherine's mission farewell my mom revealed some treasure she had stored in her chest for years.  My Great Grandmother loved to quilt and to do needle work.  Here are some of the stitchery work my mom had stored in her chest.

When I came home I couldn't get it off of my mind.  My mom even let me take one of them home which is now stored safely in my cedar chest.  A few days after I came home I went to the store and found this pattern, one just like my Great Grandmother's.  I LOVE embroidery.  It is very relaxing. I love it!

I thought I would throw in this picture of our Little Monster who loves to climb on just about EVERYTHING!!  Yep, he is fearless.

Dance Competitions

I know it has been a lot of dance pictures lately but I have been super busy.  My girls have been to two competitions.  Jump was a very high caliber competition/workshop with amazing judges and instructors, Melanie Moore the 8th season winner of So You Think You Can Dance, Nick Lazzarini (1st SYTYCD winner), Kenny Wormald, star of the new Footloose, Mia Michaels, and others! It was a long, fun weekend!  Ashlynn won a scholarship for outstanding performance during the classes.  They had classes for 5-6 hours on Friday and Saturday.  The competition (where they only competed one of their dances) was Saturday morning.  Right before the last class Saturday night Ashlynn came out (during break) and collapsed on the floor by me.  I wanted to leave and just skip the last class but she adamantly protested.  Kaylie was done.  For some strange reason I let her stay and do it.  She has really grown into dance this year loving it.  During the last part of the night (about 9:30) Kaylie was curled up in a ball moaning from exhaustion and I think a little bit of dehydration so I packed them up and left.  It was right after that when it was announced that AShlynn won a scholarship.  I'm thinking it was for ballet but when Gerti gets us the certificate I will let you know.

During the competition I was reminded again at how lucky my girls are to be able to do dance.  Almost EVERY single team wore what I consider immodest clothing.  ALL of the Utah dance teams had their girls dancing in sports bras or other extremely revealing clothing.  Only our team and one or two other teams from Idaho had their girls covered.  They would not be dancing if we didn't live where we are living.  Thank You Gerti and Sam.  So grateful.

Pictures are from the competition Dance Factor
We were not allowed to take pictures at JUMP.

Ashlynn was in heaven.  The older girls lifted her up and she thought it was something quite fantastic.  I failed to mention that Kaylie's Paris dance won first place at Dance Factor.

Dr. Seuss Choir Performance

"Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened" Dr. Seuss

There is a teacher at Woodland Hills whom loves to do a choir every year and this year Ashlynn wanted to participate in it.  I was a little hesitant because she is already so busy with other things but when the time came I gave in (like always).  I'm glad I did because she LOVED it so much.  A few months ago she was so excited because she was given the part of one of Thing One and Thing Two who does tricks.  The performance was last night which was the end and I will have to say that I'm a little glad it is over because it made my life slightly more complicated.

It was very cute and Ashlynn was so glad that all of her grandparents that live here in Idaho Falls could come to support her.

Because this was such a big deal to Ashlynn I made her a Lorax cake from one of Dr. Seuss books (I saw it on pintrest).  Brandon said it was amazing but while Conner was eating it he claimed "I just want broccoli" WHAT??  Funny kid.

The pictures of the cake aren't very good at all.
